WASHINGTON, July 25, 2013 – AIC DC Center held its first annual Iftar. A large and diverse group, consisting of both Muslims and non-Muslims attended the event.

“Our theme this year is  ‘Iftars around the world,’ said AIC Executive Director, Zainab al-Suwaij at the opening, “All of us coming from all these different backgrounds makes [this DC Iftar] all the more unique.”

“This month is special for us as Muslims…here in America, the place where we’ve been able to practice our religion, to be able to be who we are… to make our diversity more rich,” she added.
