Abdel Maliky, Chief Operations Officer

Abdel Maliky

Abdel Maliky left a successful career in business and finance to follow a path of personal fulfillment and take command of AIC’s day-to-day operations. He holds an MBA and an MS in Actuarial Science and has advised CFOs and Human Resource Officers of Fortune 500 companies on several financial and operational issues. While he brings to AIC a corporate approach, he also has a personal commitment to promoting tolerance, civil rights and moderation. The son of an ambassador, Abdel has traveled the world yet stayed close to his roots. He hails from the Yoruba West African ethnic group, which is known for its unusual interfaith relations, including members of the same immediate family following different religions. That spirit of religious freedom guides Abdel’s life, made him an enthusiastic believer of AIC’s mission, and serves him in leading AIC’s Operations. Abdel is the Chairman of AIC’s D.C. Interfaith Council.

Abdel’s areas of expertise include:

  • The American Muslim Community
  • Interfaith dialogue and the Abrahamic faiths
  • Interethnic relations in Muslim-majority countries
  • MENA and West Africa: religion, politics and current events
  • Financial and business operations in non-profit organizations and corporations
