Andrew Buchwach, MENA Program Assistant

Andrew Buchwach serves as the MENA Program Assistant for AIC.  He is the primary conduit of communication between the staff of AIC’s Ambassadors for Peace program in Iraq and the program’s administration in Washington, D.C.  He also works to develop grants for AIC’s MENA portfolio, conducts research in Arabic and English, and regularly provides Arabic-English and English-Arabic translation for the AIC staff. Andrew has a deep interest in the MENA region, the Arabic language and media analysis. He previously served as the Resident Director for the Flagship Language Program in Alexandria, Egypt and Ifrane, Morocco. He also spent a year living and working in Amman, Jordan, where he studied at the University of Jordan and taught ESL with Berlitz. Additionally, Andrew holds an M.A. from Queen’s University, Belfast, where he studied as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. He graduated from DePaul University in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science. He speaks Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian colloquial Arabic fluently.
