Muslim Voices for Darfur

Darfur has been embroiled in a deadly conflict for over three years. At least 400,000 people have been killed; more than 2 million innocent civilians have been force to flee their homes and now live in displaced-persons camps in Sudan or in refugee camps in neighboring Chad; more than 3.5 million men, women and children are completely reliant on international aid for survival.

The American Islamic Congress is launching a Muslim and Arab initiative to help the people in Darfur. Young people across the Middle East are organizing candlelight vigils in support of the Darfurians and urging the Sudanese government to end the ongoing violence in Western Sudan.

What You Can Do

• Click here to light a candle to show your support for the people of Darfur.
• Choose a day during Valentine's week (February 14^th - February 21^st) to hold a candlelight vigil.
• Call for a candlelight vigil on this day in your university, community, or in front of the Sudanese embassy.
• If you don't live in the Middle East, you can organize the vigil in support of all the voices that speak against violence and torture in Darfur.
• Send an email to jana@aicongress.org telling her about the vigil you are holding (country and loation), including pictures you have taken at the vigil.
• Invite speakers to your own communities and campuses to bring Arab-Muslim Voices for justice in Sudan
