AIC Center – D.C.

On October 25, 2012, the American Islamic Congress officially opened the doors of the AIC Center for Advocacy, Engagement, and Education in Washington, D.C.

The grand-opening celebration was attended by scores of friends, supporters, and distinguished guests, who came to be a part of history. Remarks were given by Joshua Polacheck of the State Department and Julie Koo of the D.C. Mayor’s Office. The keynote speech was delivered by Grande Lum of the Justice Department.

The AIC Center is an inclusive space for Muslims of all ethnicities, sects and practice, so long as they support AIC’s mission of pluralism, nonviolence and interfaith dialogue. The Center will host film festivals, author presentations, round-table discussions, and cultural events to unite the vibrant and fast-growing Muslim community, the most diverse religious group in the U.S.

More than just a cultural center or community space, the AIC Center will play an critical role in the current environment, informing policy makers, federal agencies, NGOs and the multi-faith community on issues and perspectives that are important to the Muslim community and to all Americans. The 5,000 sq. ft. space will also be available for other NGOs and organizations to hold events.
