Engagement
AIC engages with community members through a number of interactive programs including:
The AIC Centers are inclusive spaces for Muslims of all ethnicities, sects and practice, so long as they support AIC’s mission of pluralism, nonviolence and interfaith dialogue. The Centers serve as community spaces, hosting film festivals, author presentations and round-table discussions. The Centers also work to educate surrounding communities on the issues and perspectives that are important to the Muslim community and to all Americans.
AIC hosts two contests for youth in the U.S. and the Middle East: the Dream Deferred Essay Contest on civil rights in the Middle East and the Eye to Heart Film Contest for aspiring filmmakers to explore positive human values and advance social change.
AIC’s Interfaith Councils provide a venue for the American Muslim community to come together to express and to celebrate community’s cultural richness through events, forums for dialogue on issues and establishes relationships through community multicultural events and round table discussions. AIC provides and alternative community setting to meet, interact and share.
