American Islamic Congress Testifies at Congressional Hearing on Workplace Religious Diversity

Calls for Robust Action to Protect Against Discrimination

Washington, D.C. - Protecting people of diverse religious backgrounds from discrimination in the workplace is a challenge before the civil rights community. The American Islamic Congress (AIC) is today joining an important Congressional hearing to address this civil rights concern.

Who: ZAINAB AL-SUWAIJ, executive director of the American Islamic Congress, a leading Muslim civil-rights organization based in Washington. She will be sharing her own story of encountering workplace discrimination – when an employer did not like her hijab – and will advocate robust steps to protect Muslim-American employees.

What: Hearing on "Protecting American Employees from Workplace Discrimination," by the House Committee on Education and Labor.
